Release Style Rules to Set Yourself Free
I haven’t worn a blazer in 5 years. In fact, the day I left corporate, I actually vowed never to wear a blazer again. “Never EVER again!” I shouted as I shook my fist at the sky in triumph!
Okay, I’m being a bit dramatic with that last part but I really had no intention of letting a blazer make its way back into my closet. This little ‘rule’ was my way of celebrating that I was now free as a bird from the restrictions of corporate attire.
BUT THEN . . . [cue dramatic music] 🎶
I walked past this gorgeous little number in a store (pre-quarantine!). Every fiber of my being told me to keep walking because I don’t wear blazers.
Here’s the thing though – being so set on what you will or will not wear (even if it started out from a joyful intent) makes you miss out on future joy. It limits you from trying new things – and it’s one of the quickest ways to get yourself stuck in a style rut.
I have since made a promise that I would never say no to myself when I want to try something on that I think is beautiful. Even when the voices in my head are telling me things like “I don’t wear blazers” or “I won’t look good in that.” Instead of listening to them, I just tell them to shut the h*ll up and I go for it.
You miss out on so much when you’re not willing to try new things. So expand your horizons, bust through your limitations and explore the styles you thought you’d never wear. Style isn’t about rules, it’s about wearing what you love and having FUN while doing it!
Oh and this pink blazer? It’s on constant repeat now and I’ve never felt more me. 🙌🏻
Join me in promising never to say no to trying on something beautiful – and get ready to feel liberated!

ABOUT:
I'm a Minneapolis personal stylist on a mission to eradicate outdated style 'rules' so women can unleash themselves in all their beautiful, authentic glory!
I offer personal styling services that empower women to wear what they love by helping them ditch any outdated style rules keeping them stuck, showing them how to dress in a way that embraces their beautiful body and, the key to it all, having fun! I believe in a liberated style approach so there are no style rules, body shapes, seasonal colors or dos and don’ts given out here. Rather, I help my clients tap into what lights them up and dress with the purpose of expressing their authentic selves rather than impressing others.
This is all done through a combination of styling services (including wardrobe edits, shopping trips and styling sessions) available in thoughtfully curated styling packages designed to help clients unleash their true self through the power of style.
When I'm not helping women take back their power style, you can find me reading (about a gazillion books at once), learning the art of pole dancing, making & decorating cakes, binging a random circa 2000's TV show with my hubby, Aaron, while playing with my adorable rescue pup or, of course, shopping! :-)
